ECMO Team Leaders
Dr. Erik Osborn is Medical Director of Inova’s Adult ECMO Program. Dr. Osborn is an internationally recognized adult ECMO physician and educator. During his Army
service he started ECMO programs for the U.S. military in Germany and in Hawaii. He has led some of the longest successful adult ECMO transports on record in the
Pacific, Southwest Asia, and Europe. Dr. Osborn has led ECMO courses for the American College of Chest Physicians for a decade.
Dr. Mehul Desai is Medical Director, Cardiovascular ICU and Medical Co-Director of Inova’s Adult ECMO program. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Critical
Care, Dr. Desai is an ECMO physician and educator.
Dr. Ramesh Singh is a cardiothoracic surgeon who is Surgical Director, Adult ECMO and Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support at Inova Heart and Vascular
Institute.
Dr. Liam Ryan is a cardiothoracic surgeon and Director, Inova Lung Transplant Program.
Dr Alan Speir is a cardiothoracic surgeon who is Director, Adult and Pediatric ECMO for Inova Health System and Chief of Cardiac Surgery.
Dr. William Stotz, a pediatric intensivist, leads the Neonatal and Pediatric ECMO division of the program. Board certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine, Dr. Stotz brings over 20 years of clinical experience to Inova Children's Hospital.
Dr. Heidi Dalton is the Director of the Inova Pediatric ECLS Program. She is a leader in pediatric critical care and extracorporeal life support with more than 20 years experience. Dr. Dalton has developed, expanded and led ECMO programs from neonates through adults.
